Day two started bright and early for some of us, my body still being on Irish time was up and ready to go at 5:30am, Sharon on the other hand has adapted to the time change admirably and only managed to crawl out of bed at 12(after I told her she was being left behind!).
Our initial plan was to head to Vero Beach and go for a lesson with Pauline but problems with renting the plane there meant we were now going to Melbourne for a lesson with Shannon a friend of Pauline's. So we hopped in to our SUV and drove the hour and a half journey to Melbourne. After a quick coffee with Pauline and Barry, we headed out for our flight which was now shortened to an hour due to scheduling issues so Sharon took the lesson while I sat in the back taking notes. After getting over the initial shock of how slow the Piper Warrior is compared to the Seminole and how much time you have compared to the 737 sim the lesson went really well and I'm confident Sharon at least will pass the check out flight tomorrow.
After saying our goodbyes we jumped back into our gas guzzler and drove 3 hours north to St Augustine. We had booked a lovely looking hotel on the internet, a real bargain it was only two stars but looked stunning as you can see from the picture above. Driving into St Augustine we passed what looked like our hotel and began to pull over however our GPS told us to keep going and the hotels name was different so we ploughed on figuring there must be two similar looking hotels in the town. No such luck, after we found our hotel and quizzed the receptionist about the picture we were told the small print on the webpage explains its not a picture of their hotel!
Our place is fully deserving of its 2 stars but its clean and a place to rest our heads before our checkout flights tomorrow which we are both beginning to get nervous about.
