The airport is home to many of the helicopters that transport people on and off the hundreds of oilrigs in the Gulf of Mexico. As you would expect on a Sunday evening there was nobody in the office when we are arrived but as usual people were only too happy to help us. One of the helicopter pilots rang the FBO and they sent down someone to meet us who gave us a car for the night.

Day 8: New Orleans – Patterson (Louisiana)
Well we finally got out of New Orleans, haven’t got very far but at least we’re on the move again. We sat out at the airport from 9am and finally got a little break in the weather at 5pm. After draining about a litre of water from our fuel tanks we got airborne but unfortunately the ‘little break’ was just that, we couldn’t get above 1000ft and the visibility was pretty rubbish. We got as far as Harry P Williams Memorial Airport in Patterson Louisiana though and after the last few frustrating days it’s a relief to be somewhere new.

Another great thing about the airport is it’s surrounded by cornfields so I sent Sharon in for her vegetables.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteIf you were in Ireland the last few days you could be flying as the weather is brilliant. Just remembered Daire did you bring your factor 50?
Guards all over the place this morning as Ministers in Hodson Bay having a think in. Country will be booming by the time you come back..... Hope weather improves for you.
Hi good to hear you are on the move and hopefully you will get further afield... dont mean the cornfield.... Yes, as everyone has informed you our weather great, so dont wish it away on us just yet.... Looking forward to seeing next pictures, and agenda....

Hi,
ReplyDeleteWe're not allowed on anything fun on the internet at work so i figured i wouldnt be able to look at this at work but I can. Yipee something to read to pass the time, there's only so much of skynews.com you can read without being bored silly. Sounds like ye are having fun. Good thing you did that bikini diet Daire or that little plane of yours might not have made it off the ground. Have fun
Peace out homes
bring me back some bling
Hey Daire and Sharon, I see Orla is being her usual serious self !! Its a pity she can't spell !! (Homes ???) No news here, Michael is in good form despite his teething bothering him. Gavin is still getting his dressing changed and has to go back again on Wednesday hopefully he will get the all clear next Monday in Tallaght. Gracie is here beside me and she says hi, it was hard enough to get a reply from her she is engrosed in cartoons as usual. Well keep the enjoyment up, take care
ReplyDeleteas Niamh is pushing 40 she doesnt understand the youth of today, my 'spelling' mistake she is referring to is not actually a mistake. Im sure she has heard of the term homies and though that is what i meant to write but in most young hip circles nowadays we refer to friends plural as homes. But as I say shes pushing 40 so I understand how she might get confused
ReplyDeleteVeggies.... ha, ha.... though at least the pair of ye are staying away from detoxing:) Now that's just plain silly... imagine needing the loo at 1,000 ft! I mean D is alright, just gets to open the Pilot Window or pee in the Gatts jar... but spare a thought for poor Sharrrrooooonnnnn....
